Gasoline powers inflation rate to 3.1 per cent in June
Wednesday, July 23, 2008
The Canadian Press -- OTTAWA — Living in Canada got a lot more expensive last month as the accelerating price of gasoline and the emergence of food inflation pushed the rate of increase in Canada's consumer price index to over three per cent for the first time in nearly three years.

Statistics Canada said Wednesday the country's annual inflation rate jumped to 3.1 per cent in June from 2.2 per cent the previous month, the biggest one-month leap since September 2005.

From May, prices were 0.7 per cent higher.

We'll see what our numbers say. I'll bet the 3rd quarter will see an improvement. That's when the US sets the increase for the federal government employees.

Inflation is due to the price of oil and its spiderweb effect on all consumer goods. Without it consumer prices would probably be steady or falling.

Interest rates will have to go up soon or inflation will get out of control.

Don't you just love statistics? How about this one... How many different ways are there to say the same thing and how does that relate to the number of media outlets?

I am in France and if you want to talk about inflation just ask me....... Gasoline is bouncing up and down with the crude oil prices (not like at home where it does little but go up.) I am driving a cute little Peugeot and it gets excellent mileage as we have driven all around France in it and filled up once but it was $13.65 US per gallon which is a bit high as the $ is so slow in comparison.

The Arctic may hold 90 billion barrels of oil, more than all the known reserves of Nigeria, Kazakhstan and Mexico combined, and enough to supply U.S. demand for 12 years, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

It's going to take a little while longer to see the higher fuel costs work their way into all retail products.

Just confirming what everyone knew was going to happen...products invariable use oil either shipping, manuf. or packaged in. Just a matter of when costs are passed thru. What gets me is last nights news then stated that it makes avg. salary only 1% better than last yr. Is someone math handicapped??
Who's salary is keeping pace with this inflation...oh maybe the increase of millionaires income tipped the scale here???

what a total no brainer! One doesn't need any form of special training to figure out that if gas goes up transporting goods is going to go up therefore the end product will have to increase
uh duh
